strange coincidences.
Alright so yesterday was a very interesting day! So i've been spending a lot of time in the library lately and yesterday i went for a bout an two hours after class and i finally decide to go to the cougar and get some food to eat. so i'm walking out of the library and i see this giant carhartt jacket and think to myself "oh that looks like my dad's jacket....wait a minute, that looks like my dad's ridiculous mustache...THATS MY DAD!". So i walk over to them (my mom was with him) and said "uh hey there, fancy meeting you here..". We laughed cause it was such a random occurrence. i thought they were in salt lake but they had come down to go to my sister-in-law's orchestra concert. They had gone to the library because there was a document in the special collections that they really wanted to see. wanna know what it was? well then you gotta listen to this story first.
okay so the early 1800s my great-great-great- grandfather Solomon Chamberlain was trying to figure out many questions that people often have. He was particularly worried about the afterlife because many of his loved ones had died. As he was trying to be a righteous guy he also prayed to Lord many times about it. He ended up having a vision and in his vision he basically saw a couple aspects of the plan of salvation. Convinced that this message was "from the eternals" he began to go out and preach it. In his vision he saw the deceased wife of a friend of his and she told him to tell her husband needed to repent otherwise he can not be where i am now that struck me because the way she said it made it sound like she was in the celestial kingdom. In his travels ended up taking him to Hyrum Smith's house. As Hyrum opened the door Solomon asked him "do you believe in visions" and Hyrum replied "we are a visionary home". Needless to say, his vision was entirely consistent with the gospel and he hadn't even heard of mormons before. He was taught by Hyrum and baptized by Joseph Smith. When he knocked on the door he had a pamphlet which explained his vision. this pamphlet was the one we got to look at! Anyway it was sooooooo freaking cool!Labels: family
