Explore the Familiar || I Believe In Unicorns
The 'Explore the Familiar' Guest Series is a visual narrative of the places/items/or people closest to us that might often get taken for granted. By examining what draws us to the familiar, we may just find that the mundane might possibly be the most beautiful thing we could ask for.

My name is Ashley and I am a dromomaniac. For those who don’t know what that is, it means I suffer from an insatiable urge to travel, wonder, and explore. I live in the same place I grew up in and sometimes I struggle and feel frustrated with the sameness I’ve always seen—it never seems new enough and beautiful enough to keep me satisfied—which can cause a real problem when you have to be a grown up and settle into a routine.

I have really been working on being happy right where I am, while I don’t think there is anything wrong with looking forward to your next vacation or adventure to somewhere new, I know it’s equally important to be happy with where you are today.

In my effort to enjoy and explore the familiar—I have made my home a sanctuary of beauty. I have carefully curated favorite photos of my husband and I, souvenirs from our travels, thrifted treasures, and homemade gifts from the hubs. I keep fresh flowers where they can always be seen (I really believe in fresh flowers), I take (too much) time to sit and watch all the funny little things my pup, Poppy, does to get our attention and make us laugh. Every night my husband and I come together for snuggle time on the couch (and Poppy joins us too), it is always my favorite part of the day. I try my best, each day, to see the new—I promise, it’s there when you look.

Today it was a bright new flower on the vine outside our door. We had been waiting two years for one to bloom—we had almost given up on it, but today it came. And it was magic.

I'm always so excited to see Ashley pop up on my social media channels (instagram, blogs, and whatnot). not only is she so incredibly photogenic and stylish, she's one of the kindest people I've cyber-met. I was so very grateful that she was willing to be a part of this series. Ashley is a refreshing voice in the blogger world, and her impeccable taste leaves me wondering why you're still reading this, and not stalking her blog right now....
